That&#8217;s a big number.<\/p>\n<p>Note for micro-businesses (with 20 or fewer staff) 59% rated it effective or very effective while 50% gave that rating if staff levels between 21 and 50 applied. Staff rate this effectiveness less as the\u00a0business size grows, which makes a certain amount of sense.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5826\" style=\"width: 728px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/communicate_ideas_across.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5826\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5826\" alt=\"Communication message across a bridge over a busg creek\" src=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/communicate_ideas_across.jpg\" width=\"718\" height=\"542\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/communicate_ideas_across.jpg 718w, https:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/communicate_ideas_across-300x226.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/communicate_ideas_across-150x113.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 718px) 100vw, 718px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5826\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Communicating effectively is the only way to get your idas across to others &#8211; and to get them to help you implement your ideas.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2>Communications is important<\/h2>\n<p>On a positive note, the survey showed many people will stay in their current job because they have a great relationship with co-workers.<\/p>\n<p>So the question is, how do businesses improve communications within teams and from the leadership to everyone else?<\/p>\n<p>I think the key is wanting to communicate &#8211; the hows and skills can only do so much if management wants to keep secrets and power to themselves.<\/p>\n<h2>Improve communications ideas<\/h2>\n<p>From the survey itself, some ways to improve that perception of two-way communications include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>57\u00a0% believe management listens and responds to employee concerns &#8211; so actively listening is a clear method for making improvements<\/li>\n<li>59% stated that being valued and understood is a major factor in employee engagement &#8211; that comes back to listening and ensuring communication really is two-way<\/li>\n<li>55% agree and 43% strongly agree that is it important to be acknowledged for their work &#8211; communicating appreciation of people&#8217;s efforts and skills could make a huge difference in their happiness and loyalty.
