All three words have a similar sound and very similar meanings – they all relate to making certain and secure. However, they are generally used in different contexts.\"holding<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Assure:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0speak positively\u00a0to convince, make certain, make safe, ensure
\nThe police will assure the family that all is being done.<\/em>
\nThe CEO will assure this job is yours once\u00a0she returns from lunch.<\/em><\/p>\n

Ensure<\/span><\/strong>: make certain, make safe, secure
\nPreparing a first aid kit will ensure a safer trip.<\/em><\/p>\n

Insure:<\/span><\/strong> to guarantee or provide indemnity against harm or loss, usually in the form of money
\nI pay a premium so the company will insure my business against theft and fire.<\/em><\/p>\n

So which word to use when?<\/h2>\n

in<\/strong><\/span>sure is used where fin<\/span><\/strong>ancial\u00a0matters are involved\u00a0– relate insure and insurance basically.<\/p>\n

assure is mostly used on connection with people or other living things (a for a<\/strong><\/span>ssure and a for a<\/span><\/strong>live can help remember this one!)\u00a0– ‘I assure you’ – and can be related to reassure<\/p>\n

ensure is more about events<\/span> and things – think of\u00a0e<\/span>nsure\u00a0as\u00a0a guarantee<\/span> that something will happen<\/p>\n
