But it is also important to communicate well with your suppliers.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span id=\"dnn_ctr686_MainView_ViewEntry_lblEntry\" class=\"Normal\">For instance, someone I know recently ended a project because his client gave him insufficient and contradictory information. This client had prepared a brief but work done to match that brief was rejected!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/connecting_people_by_hand.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-4021\" title=\"connecting_people_by_hand\" src=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/connecting_people_by_hand-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Connect and communicate with all business contacts\" width=\"120\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a>Obviously communication is a two-way thing but if you make your needs straight forward it is more likely a supplier will give you what you want.<\/p>\n<p>1. specify anything mandatory &#8211; e.g the logo must always be on a white background or the newsletter must be ready by the 1st of each month<\/p>\n<p>2. explain your ideas &#8211;\u00a0a rough sketch is ok as long as it is labelled<\/p>\n<p>3. <a title=\"Reducing jargon in your writing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wordconstructions.com.au\/articles\/business\/reducejargon.html\" target=\"_blank\">avoid jargon<\/a> unless you are sure the supplier understands it the same way you do &#8211; that includes using their jargon if you aren&#8217;t sure of it yourself!<\/p>\n<p>4. write or talk as if they are a customer &#8211; <a title=\"Writing efficiently saves money\" href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/2011\/09\/writing-efficiently-saves-money\/\" target=\"_blank\">clearly, concisely and politely<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Have you had client projects where poor communications made the project a dreaded chore instead of challenging and interesting?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0In a business context, most people think of clear communications in terms of their customers.
