Have you tried researching information about this situation, either in general or for something specific?<\/p>\n<h2>News without a date<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_4589\" style=\"width: 268px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/highlight_days_calendar.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4589\" class=\" wp-image-4589\" title=\"highlight_days_calendar\" src=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/highlight_days_calendar.jpg\" alt=\"noting dates in a calendar\" width=\"258\" height=\"136\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4589\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Knowing the date can be important for context<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I was looking at various <a title=\"what is superannuation?\" href=\"http:\/\/www.savetimeonline.com.au\/articlebank\/superexplain.html\" target=\"_blank\">superannuation<\/a>\u00a0sites yesterday to see what they were telling members about their investments and was amazed that not all listed a date for the news item they had published.<\/p>\n<p>One in particular started their article with &#8220;Last week was a tumultuous one for world share markets&#8221; and finished with a footnote &#8220;*SR50\u00a0Balanced fund SuperRatings Crediting Rate Survey, June 2011&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>So was it about things that happened last week (i.e. early August 2011) or some other week since June 2011?<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m fairly confident the article went live in the last 48 hours so presumably it is about recent developments. But what if I hadn&#8217;t looked at their site until next week &#8211; would the data still be relevant or useful?<\/p>\n<p>Yes, <a title=\"Keep your website looking fresh\" href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/2010\/06\/keep-your-webite-looking-fresh\/\">putting dates on websites can date them fast<\/a> (the &#8216;last updated&#8217; reference on many pages is the prime example of that) but current news items are the exception.<\/p>\n<p>I have \u00a0often read blog posts and <a title=\"So when is it?\" href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/2011\/06\/so-when-is-it\/\">wondered when it was<\/a> written; &#8220;new version of ABC will be released next month&#8221; and &#8220;our web visitors doubled in the past 12 months&#8221; carry more weight when I understand &#8216;next month&#8217; and &#8216;past 12 months&#8217;. A small note after the post is fine (WordPress does it by default and that works for me!)<\/p>\n<p><strong>People need to have a context, a reference point for the information<\/strong>. Especially for things like financial markets which change so rapidly at times.<\/p>\n<p>And just to be clear, this is being written on 10 August 2011!<\/p>\n<p>What, if any, pages on your site do you add a date to?
