{"id":1925,"date":"2011-05-10T07:37:31","date_gmt":"2011-05-09T21:37:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/?p=1925"},"modified":"2011-05-23T14:53:05","modified_gmt":"2011-05-23T04:53:05","slug":"proof-read-your-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/2011\/05\/proof-read-your-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Proof read your work&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You have heard it before, but I&#8217;ll say it again &#8211; it is critical to proof read your work before sending it out to work for you. <a title=\"repeating the boring stuff\" href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/2011\/03\/repeat-the-boring-stuff\/\" target=\"_blank\">Even if it is boring<\/a> and you are short on time, proof reading is important and a valuable use of your time.<\/p>\n<p>I just came across a perfect example of someone not proof reading after using a spell checker (at least I am assuming they used a spell checker!) Too often people let a spell checker do the proof reading for them but it just isn&#8217;t a safe option.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">I hate to use the word &#8220;disguised&#8221;, simply because you&#8217;re NOT hiding anything from your prospects, nor are you tricking them. But the bottom line is &#8211; &#8220;disgusted&#8221; *best describes* what your &#8220;free information pack&#8221; really is. It&#8217;s disgusted from THE FACT that it&#8217;s an ad, or that it WILL BE selling them something.<\/p>\n<p>{That is an exact copy &#8211; capitals, punctuation and spelling are not mine!}<\/p>\n<p>Easy enough to make a mistake while typing disguised and having a spell check suggest disgusted as the closest word. <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"A mask to disguise your face\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/images\/mask.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"130\" height=\"105\" \/>Very easy to ignore that and give a silly message, too, unless you proof read properly after using the spell check.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, some of us may be amused at a marketing eBook referring to marketing techniques like information packs as disgusting, but I doubt that was their intent!<\/p>\n<p>Proof reading is more than checking everything is spelt correctly &#8211; you also need to <a title=\"choose the word with the correct meaning\" href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/category\/monday-meanings\/\" target=\"_blank\">check the correct word is being used<\/a>.
