{"id":1569,"date":"2011-04-02T08:29:57","date_gmt":"2011-04-01T21:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/?p=1569"},"modified":"2011-03-30T18:45:38","modified_gmt":"2011-03-30T07:45:38","slug":"press-release-or-media-release","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/2011\/04\/press-release-or-media-release\/","title":{"rendered":"Press release or media release?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Which term do you use and prefer?<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" title=\"News headline\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/images\/news.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"205\" height=\"183\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, people would send an announcement to the newspapers to share news so it became known as a <a title=\"newsworthy stories\" href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/2008\/02\/media-release-stories\/\" target=\"_blank\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With the introduction of radio and TV, press releases had more uses than just newspapers; now, if you have news to share you may send it to any combination of newspapers, magazines, radio, TV, websites and newsletters.<\/p>\n<p>The term <a title=\"timing a media release\" href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/2008\/05\/timing-a-media-release\/\" target=\"_blank\">media release<\/a> covers all forms of media so seems more appropriate in most circumstances now than a press release. I certainly consider that I<a title=\"newsworthy stories in releases\" href=\"http:\/\/wordconstructions.com.au\/blog\/2008\/02\/media-release-stories\/\" target=\"_blank\"> write media releases<\/a>, but I am comfortable talking to people who still use &#8216;press release&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder if age or work background impact much on which name people use &#8211; what do you think?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Which term do you use and prefer?
