Recently the need to be prepared was brought home to me when my father was suddenly out of action. Verbally telling someone passwords and PINs is not enough. My mother had been told the PIN to Dad's mobile phone, but the phone went flat between the ambulance picking Dad up and my siblings and I getting to my mother. Due to the seriousness of Dad's illness (he almost died), Mum was not functioning, and could not recall being told the PIN number. On the way home, I suddenly realised that if something happened to me, no one would know how to access my various accounts, or even what I have. It is so important to document everything, both in your personal life and in your business life.
