		<description>Thanks for the link Melissa - that is truly frightening! How could anyone think using SMS shorthand in a school English exam would be acceptable!

Perhaps even scarier was a psychologist who appeared to approve of SMS in exam answers... She thinks the problem is exams asking for something students aren't used to (i.e. writing properly) but I think the problem is schools not making the kids do some writing in class and as homework so it isn't unusual for them. Even writing their answers on a computer would still require proper words.</description>

		<description>I understand the need to save space in text messages, and yes, it's quicker. However it does concern me that so many young people use the abbreviations so often that they forget - or perhaps never really learn - the correct way of spelling.</description>
